The Queen Mother Seeks Collaboration With GIS
The President of the Queen Mother Foundation of Ghana, Nana Ama Serwaa Bonsu and several executives, called for collaboration with the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to sensitize the youth and women on the current migration trend.
This was contained in a release signed by the GIS Head of Public Affairs, Chief Inspector of Immigration Michael Amoako-Atta.
This, according to him, can reduce the threat of immigration in his community.
Nana Ama Serwaa Bonsu suggested this when the foundation’s executives made a courtesy call on the Comptroller General of Immigration.
In a closed meeting, the Director General of Immigration, Kwame Asuah Takyi, who received the delegation of the directorate company and some management members, thanked the group for giving good support and advice to the leadership. of the Service.
Speaking at the meeting, Nana Ama Serwaa Bonsu was full of praise for CGI, praising him for his dedication and hard work over the years which he described as worthy of emulation by other security chiefs.
However, they lamented the deviant activities carried out by some foreign nationals in the country which continue to cause friction and unrest in their communities. The queen mothers asked the CGI to help investigate and arrest the perpetrators living in the community.
The group also emphasized the need to educate citizens about the proper procedures for traveling out of the country and the dangers associated with illegal migration by many young people in recent years.
Nana Kobiwa-Akwa III, the association’s executive, shared her experience of traveling to many parts of the world, which she said has helped her put her perspective on the job description of an immigration officer.
“My experience as a traveler has helped me appreciate the transformation of GIS in recent years,” he added. He is optimistic that the new development in the institution led by Mr. Takyi will continue even after the end of his tenure.
Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi highlighted some of the challenges that the Service is currently facing and assured the queen mothers, all the challenges mentioned have been taken care of and the Service will take immediate steps to solve problems in the community, especially those that fall under the mandate of the Service.
He noted that the role played by the Queen Mother cannot be overemphasized, especially in helping citizens understand and appreciate the work of the Service to keep our communities safe, and called on the group to educate the community on the importance of sharing relevant information. with officers if necessary.
He concluded by assuring the queen mothers that the Service will continue to work with traditional leaders, especially the queen mothers as they also have a great influence in the community.
The executives of the association presented a citation in honor of the Comptroller-General of Immigration for his immense contribution to the growth of the Ghana Immigration Service, the National Identification Authority and the country as a whole.
