MANILA, Philippines-Creamline barely broke a sweat as they defeated Army-Black Mamba, 25-15, 25-20, 25-12, in the Premiere Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena on Tuesday.
After taking over two hours of play before defeating Chery Tiggo on Saturday, Cool Smashers only needed 18 minutes to dispose of the Lady Troopers.
“This game is our preparation, for everyone. In the next match, the match will continue to advance to the semifinals, so we will work hard after increasing this huge confidence,” said Tots Carlos in Filipino.
“I feel good because of course, we want to win today and the rest of my teammates can play, so I really gave my best.”
Carlos, who scored just nine times last time, rebounded with 17 points to power the Cool Smashers to a league-leading 5-1 record, while Michele Gumabao remained consistent in scoring with 11 to his name.
Just like the previous set, the third frame saw the Cool Smashers build a big lead, 13-5, against the Lady Troopers.
Rizza Mandapat’s birthday girl put Creamline within match point, 24-12, before Carlos sealed the victory and sent Army to an 0-5 start.
