MANILA, Philippines – Shaya Adorador led the collective effort as Chery Tiggo made a thrilling debut in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference after defeating Cignal, 27-25, 25-19, 25-22, on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.

Starting life without Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Adorador is one of the Crossovers, who stepped up to give returning coach Aaron Velez a successful season debut after giving 16 points, 11 digs, and five great receptions.

Team captain Mylene Paat also led the way with 15 points from 13 attacks, one ace, and a block, while EJ Laure had 13 points and five receptions.

“I am very happy because the coaches and players worked hard for this match. Thank you also to the management who never stopped supporting us,” Velez said in Filipino.

“It’s really more about our peace. From the beginning, our preparation was all about teamwork. Our friendship, our communication must always be on point, and trust each other.”

Setter Alina Bicar also shined with 14 impressive sets, seven digs, and two aces, as middle blockers Roselle Baliton and Cza Carandang scored nine and eight points, respectively.

Cignal only made 11 mistakes but Chery Tiggo dominated the attack with a differential of 57-35.
