Best friends! Scheana Shay and Ariana Madix‘s tight friendship has been documented in the Vanderpump Rules for years.
After making guest appearances on the first two seasons of the Bravo reality series, Madix became a main cast member in 2015. From the start, Shay’s bond with the Florida native contrasted with her relationship with her fellow SUR employees. Stassi Schroeder, Christian Doute and Katie Maloney. However, the costars still have ups and downs in the year.
During season 4 episodes of Pump Rules that aired in January 2016, Shay and Maloney confronted Madix about the tension between her and Doute, who was dating. Tom Sandoval before him.
“Ariana thinks she’s a cool laid-back chick and Christian is the one holding a grudge, but in reality, it’s the other way around,” Shay said in a confessional at the time.
The “Good As Gold” singer told her friend that she and Maloney felt Madix was “very negative” and “dogged” about the group doing well with Doute.
“Your mom has actually contacted me and asked if you’re okay and she doesn’t know that you don’t like Tom and that he’s a bad boyfriend,” Shay said, noting that “Madix’s own family. [had] see the change in [her] personality.”

“A lot of what he said [to my mom] they were backhanded strangely, but very offensive about Tom that is not really accurate,” the Af Fancy Cocktail coauthor to host Andy Cohenadding that Shay claims that she is beautiful “everything about” herself.
Despite the drama, friends can bury the hatchet.
“Honestly, we’re better than ever,” Shay said of Madix during a January 2017 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. The California native added that viewers can expect to see a healthy pair of friendship in season 5 of Pump Rules. “You will see Ariana and I kind of connect again and you will see the rest of the friendship that grows again as strong as in the previous season,” she said.
Shay supported her fellow Bravolebrity in March 2023 when news broke that Sandoval was cheating on Madix with her costar. Rachel Lewis. Amid the scandal, the duo broke up after nine years of dating.
Although Shay was close to Leviss before the controversy, he and many others Pump Rules cast pledges loyalty to Madix in the wake of Sandoval’s infidelity.
“We rally,” the “Shake That” musician captioned an Instagram recording of him and Madix in a Tove Lo concert hour after Us Weekly confirmed separation and relationship.
