PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed that the Pirates appeared before the League DC and they have been fined the amount of R50 000 for the offense, with half of the money suspended for a period of 12 months.

“I can confirm that the Orlando Pirates Football Club earlier today (Friday) appeared in DC to answer the charge of illegally watering the field contrary to the regulations in a match between the Golden Arrows Football Club. They pleaded guilty and were later convicted and, in the result , they were fined an amount of R50 000, half of which was suspended for a period of 12 months on the condition that during the period of suspension, they were not found guilty of the same offence,” said Majavu.

“The balance of the other R25 000 must be paid effectively, together with the costs order, the costs will be administratively settled by the league and forwarded to Orlando Pirates for payment together with the R25 000 fine.”

The Buccaneers will be looking to forget about the DC hearing with the side on task to register three wins in a row when they meet the Marumo Gallants at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Friday night.

Pirates are desperate to collect as many points as possible, with the club targeting a higher place in the league standings at the end of the season. After winning their last two games, the Sea Pirates camp should be very confident going into this game.
