PSG Are Set To Leave the Parc des Princes – After the Mayor of Paris Refused to Sell Them the Stadium | Football/Soccer

PSG will leave the Parc des Princes for the first time in their history after meeting with the mayor of Paris. The French team have played their home games at the stadium since its formation in 1970, and are said to have invested more than £75 million in the facility in recent years. Mayor Anne Hidalgo, however, said the city refused to sell the stadium to the club, which led to the fallout and PSG’s exit.

The Ligue 1 champions are said to be willing to invest another £440 million to improve the stadium, but Hidalgo has closed the potential deal after negotiations over a potential deal.

Via ESPN, Hidalgo told Le Parisien newspaper: ‘We have a clear position. The Parc des Princes is not for sale, and it will never be. This is a firm and definitive position. This is an incredible legacy for Parisians.’
