‘Less interest than anticipated’ – PROOF cancels NFT event
Kevin Rose, the founder of the nonfungible token (NFT) collection Moonbirds has confirmed that the flagship conference “Conference Proof” scheduled for May has been canceled, stating that “interest is less than anticipated.”
We made a difficult decision today, I want to apologize to everyone who planned the trip. Full ETH refunds have been processed, hotels are refundable, and contact us regarding flights. (details below) https://t.co/tV4ba85648

The conference was first announced in early November. This is scheduled for May. 11 to May. 13 in Los Angeles.
However, Rose explained in a February 20 letter to ticket holders that this was not the “right time” for the conference:
“As you know, in the NFT world, timing is everything. And today, it’s time for us to realize that now is not the right time for CONFERENCE PROOF.
Rose explained that he and the PROOF team are considering alternatives, such as choosing a new location to Los Angeles – where it will be held – a smaller venue, reducing the scope of the event and lowering ticket prices.
But in the end, it would be better to cancel the whole event, he said.
“After a few weeks of sales data, talking to potential sponsors, and talking to community members, it’s clear that there is less interest than anticipated for an event like this.”
Rose confirmed that Ether (ETH) refunds are being processed now and that PROOF has a claim page for people to submit non-refundable flight cancellations.

The event will feature Michael “Beeple” Winkelmann – the artist behind the famous NFT that sold for $ 69 million in March 2021 – Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, Greg Solano and Wylie Aronow of Yuga Labs and NFT entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, among others. apart.
The announcement comes despite the NFT market surging in recent months, with January in particular seeing an eight-month high in monthly NFT trading volume above $1 billion.
Artist paid $150K for Bitcoin wizard meme in Ordinals
The emergence of NFT-like “Ordinals” in Bitcoin in recent months has brought a series of memes to the network lately, including the famous Bitcoin guide meme that first made the rounds on the Bitcoin subreddit in 2013.
Thanks to Ordinals, the meme artist, known as “Mavensbot” just received 6 Bitcoin (BTC) – worth $150,000 at current prices for his good work.
This was made possible after blockchain research analyst Udi Wertheimer and the Bitcoin Taproot Wizard meme-inspired community wrote a guide meme in Bitcoin to not only “celebrate the 10-year anniversary of art,” but reel in some cash for the creator of the meme, “Mavensbot,” according to Wertheimer:
A short story about how we got NFT mfers to support a historic bitcoin artist with $150,000 through lightning payments, and how our bitcoin maxis HATE.
(I know this tweet is long but the story is good)

In the first three hours, 6 Bitcoin (BTC) were sent from “NFT enjoyers” to Mavensbot via the Lightning network.
“Seeing this makes me so happy. The NFT community that I admire, using bitcoin assets and the lightning network that I believe in, to support artists whose work means so much to me.
“It’s nice to see,” he added.
Taproot Wizards is part of a movement that wants to “make bitcoin magical again” with JPEGs of internet magic written forever on the Bitcoin blockchain.
However, Wertheimer stressed that not everyone is on board with the entire Ordinal concept — especially “Bitcoin Maximalists.”
But Wertheimer doubled down, urging Bitcoin maximalists not to take everything too seriously:
“It’s time to return to the spirit of the witches of bitcoin 2013. Playfulness, experimentation, innovation. Not taking ourselves so that God cares all the time. Have fun, for Satoshi. I really believe that with ordinal we finally have the opportunity to do this.
Australian cocktail bar launches NFT membership program
Australian cocktails and NFT connoisseurs have been given a new venue in Sydney to haunt – one that allows its holders nonfungible tokens (NFTs) access to additional privileges on the line.
Sydney-based cocktail bar, Bar Lulu, opened on February 21 local time, along with NFT Members Club Bar named Cryptolulu.
Based in Sydney and facing the city’s harbor, customers must purchase NFT Member Club Bar on the OpenSea NFT market on the Ethereum network to access certain privileges.

There are three tokens you can buy – Jia Lulu, Joo Lulu and Ryuu Lulu.
Each NFT represents a different level for members that will unlock unique and additional rewards, priorities and benefits.
Token holders will be able to attend various Web3 networking events and educational sessions, be given access to exclusive private lounges, and dinner among other things.
Bar Lulu claims its NFT membership program is Australia’s first.
The bar added that the launch comes after months of seeing how similar experiments are being carried out abroad in the hospitality sector.
A former Amazon executive launched a Yelp-like platform to review NFTs
Ben Straley, a former Amazon and Starbucks executive, has launched an NFT startup “Thred” that aims to be the Yelp, Tripadvisor or Zillow of the NFT industry.
NFT-focused startup “Thred” launched February 16, which will help users find NFT collections and check them, according to a report from TechCrunch.

Straley moves into the NFT space after 25 years in digital product and customer experience leadership roles.
The Thred platform will combine machine learning and automated algorithms to rank NFTs on the Etherum and Polygon networks.
This will help potential buyers better understand the value of the collection and help distinguish legitimate NFTs.
Another Good News
One month into the NFT-like “Ordinals” mania in Bitcoin, a protocol fork has taken place to make Ordinals work on the Litecoin network. Australian software engineer Anthony Guerrera says it’s “quite simple” and he’s motivated to fork because of the 22 LTC reward.
Real Vision CEO and co-founder Raoul Pal also stated on February 20 that NFTs will act similarly to high-end property in the traditional economy, and have the potential to outperform Ether (ETH) during the bull market.
The former JPMorgan executive explained that NFT collections such as CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) have become status symbols, like cars and luxury homes, and he expects the trend to continue.
