Of course, there is a lot of tension between the members of the Windsor clan that does not work, but the situation is more tumultuous than usual in 2023.
The year got off to a flying start with the publication of Harry’s memoirs, and things only went downhill from there.
Today, the Sussexes trade with other family members, and the goal of each side seems to be nothing more mature than to exaggerate the humiliation of the other side and minimize their own.
King Charles dealt a major blow by evicting Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage earlier this month, a move widely seen as an attempt to embarrass the couple.
The Sussexes responded to the concerns by refusing to comment on their plans to attend Charles’ coronation in May.
Harry and Meghan have had been invited, but he did not know whether he would accept the invitation.
Now, it looks like Charles’ campaign to become the youngest monarch in British history continues this week amid Harry’s surprise visit to London.
According to a new report from a UK newspaper The TelegraphCharles will not will spend any time with Harry during his son’s current trip to England.
A representative for Charles has reportedly told Harry that the monarch is “busy” despite only a few visits.
Not only did Charles get a full week off, but while Harry was apparently willing to make time for father-son tea, the king offered no such flexibility.
The reason for Harry’s trip to London was unclear until this evening.
Earlier today, together with Elton John, Harry made a surprise appearance at the High Court in London.
Along with Elton and five others, the Duke of Sussex is suing the publisher Daily Mailalleging that the tabloid was guilty of phone tapping and other privacy violations.
Of course, the current court case is an irony, as the tabloids Harry is fighting are sure to have a field day over his father’s latest display of hostility.
In a January interview with Anderson Cooper, Harry confirmed reports that he had not been able to speak to his father or brother.
It seems the Duke of Sussex was hoping to bury the hatchet on this trip, but was rudely denied.
Will this latest blow affect Harry and Meghan’s decision to attend the coronation?
Or had he responded personally in a negative way, and this was Charles’ way of communicating his feelings?
Either way, it’s now unlikely that the American royals will make it to the king’s big day.
