Britain’s Prince Harry, his wife, Meghan, and their mother were involved in a “near-catastrophic car chase” involving paparazzi photographers, the prince’s spokesman said on Wednesday.

This happened after the couple attended an award ceremony held in New York on Tuesday by Ms. Foundation for Women, where Meghan was honored for her work.

Pictures that have surfaced on social media show Harry, Meghan and their mother, Doria Ragland, in a taxi.

The prince, who is currently embroiled in a series of legal battles with British tabloids, has long been against paparazzi tactics, dating back to the 1997 car crash of his mother, Princess Diana, in Paris.

More to come.
