Prince Harry continued to serve some hot tea before the release of the memoir spare!
As you can see, the 38-year-old royal interview with Tom Bradby for ITV first came down on Sunday, where he opened up about his mother’s death, Princess Diana, accusations of racism against the royal family, and more. Now, intimate conversation with Anderson Cooper at CBS‘ 60 minutes had gone down, and Harry once again held back when talking about life as a royal.

Brothers Brothers
Speaking about why he had shared so many personal and emotional secrets about his family over the past two years, Harry explained that it was all an attempt to protect him. Meghan Markle and “squash” the notion that he came between people and Prince William:
“My brother and I love each other. I love him so much. There was a lot of pain between us, especially the last six years. Nothing I wrote, anything I wanted to hurt my family. But it gives a complete picture of the situation when we grew up, and also destroys the idea that my husband is the one who destroyed the relationship between these two brothers.
However, Harry said that the tension between them had been there before Suit actress came into the picture. While the brothers appear to be inseparable, in fact, the prince claims that he has been living alone since his mother’s death. In fact, Harry recalled that an early example of his rivalry was when his older brother told him to “pretend not to know each other,” per school, saying:
“At the time it hurt. I couldn’t understand. I was like, ‘What do you mean? We’re in school now.’ Like, ‘I haven’t seen you in ages, now we can hang out together.’ He was like, ‘No, no, no, when we were in school, we didn’t know each other.’ And I take it personally. But yeah, it’s true, you hit the nail on the head. Like, we had the same traumatic experience, and then we – we deal with it in two very different ways.
According to the memoir, the feud eventually escalated to a physical confrontation over Meghan. He told Anderson about that time:
“It was a build-up – frustration, I think, on his part. It was at a time when he was told by people in his office. And at the same time, he used a lot of tabloid press, a lot of stories. And he had some problems that were not based on reality . And I defended my husband. And he came for my wife – he wasn’t there at the time but through the things he said. I defended myself.”
He continued:
“And we moved from one room to the kitchen. And his frustration grew more and more. He yelled at me. I yelled back at him. It’s not good. It’s not fun at all. And he snapped. And he pushed me to the floor.
At Archwell The founder claimed that he landed in the dog bowl – which left a mark on the back:
“[William] apologize later. It was a bad experience”
Camilla Is Press Savvy
We can imagine King Charles would not like this! Prince Harry addressed his stepmother, Camilla Parker Bowles, and his long-standing relationship with his father. He called the Queen Consort’s “campaign” for the throne “dangerous” because she “needs to fix her image” before she can marry the king:
“This makes her dangerous because of her relationship with the British press. And there is an open willingness on both sides to trade information. And with a family built on a hierarchy, and with her, on the way to becoming Queen Consort, there will be people or bodies left behind on the road because of that.
And Harry and William are often stuck in the middle of a press storm. He accused Camilla and Charles of using the two to get positive press for themselves:
“If you believe, as a member of the family, if you are on the front page, have a positive headline, a positive story written about you, it will increase your reputation or increase your chances of being accepted as a king by the king. The British public, then what will you do.
He even wrote in the book that Camilla “sacrificed me on the altar of her personal PR.” shit. Harry also noted that the whole family was greatly affected by the stories about him in the press:
“My family reads tabloids, you know? Arranged – at breakfast when everyone comes together. So, if you go around saying that whether you believe it or not, it’s still in your mind. So when you have that judgment based on stereotypes in the first place, it’s really hard to overcome. And a big part for the family, but also the British press and a lot of other people, like, ‘He changed. He must have been a witch. He has changed.’ Contrary to yes, I have changed, and I am very happy that I have changed. Because instead of getting drunk, leaving the club, taking drugs, I have now found the love of my life, and now I have the opportunity to start a family with him.
Death of Queen Elizabeth
As you may recall, Meghan and Harry were in London in September when they found out Queen Elizabeth II’s health is broken. Initially, the pair were supposed to fly to Scotland – but Harry instead flew out on his own Balmoral Castle and sorrow came when the Queen passed. Recalling the moment in the 60 Minutes interview, Harry said he contacted William about his plans to travel to Scotland:
“I asked my cousin – I said, ‘What are your plans? How are you and Kate doing? [Middleton] up there?’ And then, a few hours later, you know, all the family members who live in the Windsor and Ascot area jumped on a plane together, a plane with 12, 14, maybe 16 seats.
When Anderson asked if he “wasn’t invited on the plane,” Harry insisted:
“I wasn’t invited.”
When he remembered that day, the prince revealed:
“I walked down the hall, and my aunt was there to greet me, and she asked if I wanted to meet her. I thought about it for about five seconds, thinking, ‘Is this a good idea?’ And I was, like, ‘You know what? You can do this. You have to say goodbye.’ So I went upstairs, took my jacket and walked in and just spent some time with him. He was in the bedroom. I was right – I was very happy for him. Because he had finished his life. He had finished his life, and his wife [Prince Philip] wait for him. And they were both buried together.”
Dealing with Princess Diana’s Death
Elsewhere in the sit-down, Harry became more candid about the death of Princess Diana – who he thought was still alive at the age of 23:
“For a long time, I was just in denial that he was gone. Part of it was, you know, he wouldn’t do this to us, but part of it, maybe it was part of the plan.
Harry also admitted that he couldn’t mourn the loss of his mother until he was older, saying:
“There was a weight on my chest that I felt for years until I couldn’t cry. So I was constantly trying to find a way to cry, but– instead I sat on the sofa and remembered as many memories as I could gather about my mother. And sometimes I watch videos online.
Eventually, she turned to alcohol, pot, and cocaine to try to “numb” her pain:
“It is obvious to us as children of the English press ‘part of the suffering of our mother and I have a lot of anger in me which is true, I did not write to anyone. But I was desperate to drink too much. Because I want to numb the feeling, or I wanted to distracted myself from how… whatever I was thinking. And I would, you know, use drugs too.
Harry says that psychedelics, including ayahuasca mushrooms and psilocybin, eventually helped his grief:
“I would not recommend people to do this recreationally, but do it with the right people, if you have suffered a loss or sadness or a lot of trauma, these things can be used as medicine. For me, they clean the front page, the front page, the suffering of loss . She removed the idea that I had in my head that I should cry to prove to my mother that I miss her,” she added. “When the truth is, all he wants is for me to be happy.”
Wow…
