Prince Amoako Jnr emerges as top dribbler in Danish Superliga
Ghanaian sensation Prince Amoako Jnr is enjoying an outstanding first full senior in the Danish Superliga after emerging as the top dribbler in the league.
Amoako Jnr, who received his first Black Stars invite last week for this month’s friendly against Mexico, leads the chart for the most successful dribbles after 30 matches.
The 19-year-old sits top of the pile with 65 dribbles ahead of FC Midtjylland’s Dario Osorio with 61 and Elies Mahmoud from Randers with 59.
The top five is completed by Midtjylland’s Aral Simsir on 52, and AGF’s Gift Links and Viborg’s Sami Jalal with 51 successful dribbles each.
His performances has earned interest from several top clubs in Europe with PSG and Manchester United named among his potential destination.
“It’s always something I’ve practiced, so it’s something I’ve learned, but I also think it’s something that comes naturally with my background. When you think of African players, you think of players with flair and players who can entertain, and since I come from Ghana, it’s completely natural,” said the teenager.
“There are so many Ghanaian players who are known for being able to do special things and for playing entertainingly.
“I started playing football on the street, because that’s how football starts for almost all African players. There aren’t that many clubs and fields, so you play on the street, so that’s where you start to get a feel for the ball and learn to dribble and challenge.
“I did that too, and I really liked it. And then I continued with that, first joining a local team and then becoming part of Right to Dream when I turned 10.”
Amoako has scored 8 goals and provided five assists in 30 league games this season.
