Presidency blows GH¢15m on car tyres and batteries between Jan-Sept 2022 — Ablakwa reveals

According to him, the Presidency spent a whopping sum of GH¢51,109,137.86 on fuel in 9 months.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s regional tour during the period also cost taxpayers GH¢16,906,272.45 million.

Ablakwa who doubles as the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee said the Presidency also spent GH¢59.4million on “operational enhancement expenditure.”

In a Facebook post, the MP said the fuel bill paid in the presidency in the 9 months under review cost the suffering Ghanaian taxpayers GH¢51.1 million. (51,109,137,86). Empirical analysis carried out reveals that the government has failed miserably in its promise to reduce fuel costs by 50%.

He pointed out that the office of the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has three times between January and September 2022 requested what is only described in the expenditure document as the release of funds for “Emergency and other emergency activities”.

For the period under consideration and from GIFMIS Code 2210909 – GH¢ 4.5 million (4,050,227.18) suffering taxpayers’ funds were released cumulatively for the activities of Dr. Bawumia, he added.
