Competitors will battle it out in the squat, bench press, and deadlifting areas with seasoned referees and officials overseeing the event.
In an interview with GhanaWeb, Chief Executive Van Calebs noted that preparations are in place to deliver a spectacular tournament.
Van Calebs stated that 2023 will be a good year for powerlifting and bodybuilding and the upcoming event is the first of a series of competitions aimed at developing the sport in the country.
He said there would be an entertainment component to the event with several Ghanaian artistes and movie stars performing at the event.
“In 2023, we want to send powerlifting and bodybuilding to the next level. I believe that sport has a great offer for the country and the responsibility lies with people like me to take the initiative and introduce a program that will develop.
“This is the first major event of the year and I promise it will be epic. At Empire Van Calebs, we believe in the marriage between sports and entertainment and that we will deliver on the day. I will use this opportunity to appeal to corporate agencies to come on board and help to grow the sport,” he said.
They announced that there will be cash prizes and amazing products for the winners of the event.
