Police in Ondo State have warned residents against starting public protests over the shortage of naira and petrol in the state.
country police commissionerYemi Oyediran, gave the warning on Monday when he met with commercial bank managers and petroleum product marketers in the country.
Others at the meeting included student union leaders from higher institutions in the country.
Mr. Oyediran told the meeting that the police were aware of the plans being made to protest in the state as a way of registering complaints about the situation.
He said hoodlums could hijack the protests to cause chaos in the country.
The police commissioner was briefed by banks and oil marketers on the challenges they face in making cash and products available to citizens.
Although there was no concrete guarantee from the bank and NUPENG, the meeting agreed that the state government should create a task force to monitor the activities of banks and gas stations.

The meeting included the Police Management Team, NANS/SUG representatives, Bank Management, NUPENG, Akure youth coalition, DPR and social media influencers and activists.

Protests have erupted in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, over the shortage.
The development has fueled political campaigning in the country as general elections draw near.
In Akure, bank customers have participated in various protests at the banking hall.
