Police rescue 14 kidnapped victims in Zamfara | The Guardian Nigeria News

The Zamfara police command has evicted a bandit camp and rescued 14 abducted victims in Zamfara, who had been held hostage for 68 days.

This was contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Muhammad Shehu.

According to him, “On March 10, 2023, the tactical operation of the Police together with vigilante groups, during Operation Mop Up near Munhaye forest, succeeded in evicting the camp of some bandits belonging to one of the Kingpin bandits, known as Dogo Sule” .

“As a result of the operation, 14 hostages, consisting of two adult males, seven females and five children under the age of two, were rescued.

“The victim told Police detectives that on January 1, 2023, at about 2300 hours, many suspected robbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the villages of Anguwar Mangoro and Gidan Maidawa in Gusau Local Government Area and abducted the victims to their camp. spent 68 days in captivity.

“The victim who is in a sympathetic condition, has been taken to the Police clinic, Gusau, for medical treatment and later reunited with his family/Relations,” Shehu explained.

He said the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kolo Yusuf, had congratulated the victims for regaining their freedom, and assured them of the command’s continued commitment to protect lives and property of citizens.
