The Commissioner of Police in Plateau, Mr. Bartholomew Onyeka, on Monday paraded six suspects allegedly linked to different crimes in the state.
Onyeka, who was paraded at the Command Headquarters in Jos, also announced the rescue of the kidnapped victim before journalists.
The police chief said that some of the suspects had illegal firearms, stole cars, and so on.
He said the suspects had made useful statements that would help arrest some of the fleeing suspects, adding that the suspects would be arrested and brought to face the wrath of the law.
“Joint efforts by the police and some relevant security groups led to the arrest of two men from Shen, Du, in Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) who were in possession of 200 pieces of G3 ammunition.
“They also had 80 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 56 rounds of Type 06 ammunition and empty magazines.
“The suspects also told us that one Dajah, transported ammunition to them through a commercial driver from Maiduguri.
“He also admitted that two people from Kunet, Bokkos Local Government also received G3 guns from the same source but the guns have been recovered.
“Similarly, during a routine patrol, officers from the Eagle Eye patrol team also arrested one Uche Mathew and Michael Okoro, suspected car robbers on Bukuru road and a Lexus 300 recovered from them.
“On January 21, the kidnap victim, Samuel Samson, from Toro LGA, Bauchi State, was rescued by the police in the state and has been receiving treatment from the police clinic, as he was in a weak state when he was rescued.
“The victim, after regaining consciousness, disclosed that she was abducted from her home in Gwagwalada, FCT, Abuja but dumped in Jos after her captors realized that she was not the person they wanted to abduct.
“Efforts are to reunite the victims with their families and arrest the culprits,” Onyeka said.
The police chief said the breakthrough was realized through the emplacement of tested security strategies in visibility and community policing with intelligence-led stop and search operations.
He said other modalities and constant patrols led to the success recorded.
Onyeka said that the synergy that exists between the police and other security agencies as well as strategic security assistance groups such as the Nigerian Hunters Association, Neighborhood Watch and others is also very important.
