The news outlet reported that they chased a Toyota Corolla vehicle with a motorbike from Ofankor. However, when they reached Pokuase, the driver slowed down to let the officer approach, then suddenly hit him, causing him to fall under the moving truck to his death.
After hitting the officer, the driver of the Toyota vehicle fled and no details of the car were taken.
The motorcycle that the policeman was riding crashed, while his helmet was also crushed by the truck.
The officer who was formerly with the Rovers Unit reportedly suffered a fatal head injury.
Unconfirmed reports said he was a driver assigned to the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
In another crime-related story, the Accra Division High Court sentenced members of a West Togoland separatist group to 5 years in prison.
The five members face up to 25 years in prison.
He was arrested by police in September 2020 after blocking Aveyime road from Accra with sand and attacking Aveyime and Mepe Police stations in the Volta Region.
The High Court sentenced the five defendants on March 17, after finding them to have violated the Prohibited Organizations Act 1976 (Supreme Military Council Decision / SMCD20).
