Police arrest key suspects in murder of Soldier at Ashaiman

The police after a week of continuous intelligence-led operations arrested the main suspects involved in the murder of Imoro Sherrif, a soldier who died in Taifa Ashiaman on March 4, 2023.

The arrests were purely police intelligence work with no military involvement.

Trooper Imoro Sherif was buried on Thursday, March 10.

The soldier, according to sources, was returning from Taifa and heading to his home at Zongo-Laka in Ashaiman when he was attacked by unknown assailants and stabbed to death.

Though he was carrying a laptop and other electronic gadgets, the attackers got rid of only his iPhone.

The killing prompted soldiers to brutally attack Ashaiman on Tuesday in the hope of arresting the suspects.

The invasion by the soldiers has been condemned by Ghanaians. Amnesty International Ghana also condemned the military action.

“Amnesty International Ghana opposes all forms of violence and human rights violations and condemns the violence perpetrated by the military against civilians. The military must step down and allow the Ghana Police Service to carry out a full investigation into the killing of the soldier,” it said in a statement.
