Police arrest 12 suspected masterminds of carjacking, robbery & murder syndicate in Ghana
Sustained intelligence-led operations by special police teams between July, 2022 and January, 2023 have led to the arrest of 12 people suspected of being perpetrators of serious crimes in Ghana.
The operation saw the team monitor the suspects throughout the period.
The arrested men are accused of being behind an organized crime syndicate that robs victims of cars in the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Eastern regions.
Some of these actions lead to murder.
“Investigations into the activities of the syndicate revealed that the suspect, Jeffery Dwomoh, shot and killed one of the victims, during one of his carjacking expeditions in Brofoyedru near Ahenema Kokoben,” he said on Wednesday, February 1.

POLICE HAVE ARRESTED 12 organized crime suspects for their involvement in carjackings, robberies and murders across the country.
1. The police have arrested twelve people who are members of an organized crime syndicate involved in several incidents of carjacking, robbery and murder in three regions of the country.
2. The arrest follows an ongoing, intelligence-led operation by a special police team monitoring the gang’s activities between July 2022 and January 2023 in Greater Accra, Ashanti and the Eastern Region.
3. Suspect Prince Opuni, Kwabena Kyei Barfour, Jeffrey Dwomoh alias Jeff, Clifford Opoku alias Spider, Samuel Adom, William Ansah, Bernard Adu Gyamfi, Anthony Tawiah alias Wizzy, Andrew Kwame Owusu, Musah Sulley, Yaw Acheampong, Charles Lotherford, operate with gun, attacked the victim and took the car which he later sold to someone else.
4. Investigation into the activities of the syndicate revealed that the suspect, Jeffery Dwomoh, shot and killed one of the victims, when one of the expeditions stole a car at Brofoyedru near Ahenema Kokoben.
5. During the operation, the police found ten (10) vehicles, which were believed to have been seized by the gang from their victims. The police also recovered two foreign pistols, one revolver with ten (10) rounds of 38 special ammunition and a Rugger foreign pistol with eleven (11) 9mm rounds of ammunition, together with Ten Thousand and Ten Ghana Cedis (GH? 10,010.00) in cash.
6. All twelve (12) suspects are in Police custody and efforts are being made to arrest one other suspect who, the police have reason to believe, facilitated the documentation of the double vehicle for the syndicate.
7. Police are in contact with many victims who are assisting with the investigation and efforts to contact the remaining victims.
8. We would like to commend the Police team who demonstrated their resilience and patriotic commitment throughout the entire operation.
