The film focuses on the Barden Bellas a cappella team – who make music using only their mouths – and have proven their mettle. The franchise has since released two random sequels.
In 2015, the music group took on international competitors in hopes of keeping the group’s performance skills intact. Three years later, The Bellas reunited as college graduates to sing in Europe as part of the USO Tour and the venue DJ Khaledthe label.
Characters have been added along the way, but the original Bellas – made up of Beca (Anna Kendrick), Aubrey (Anna Camp), Chloe (Brittany Snow), Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) and others – made a place in the hearts of fans early on.
There are also several Barden Treblemakers – including Bumper (Adam Devin), Jesse (Skylar Astin) and Benji (Ben Platt) – which made a lasting impression from its first appearance on the screen.
The friendship between the actors has become stronger with each film as well.
“That’s my favorite,” Snow said Us Weekly exclusively in October 2017. “We will do this film forever, not only because we are a family, but also because we now have a routine and a system and we know each other’s comedy.”
That family dynamic led the stars to add their own lines and actions in the third film. “Our director lets us add whatever we want,” the Florida native said. “Most of the film is what we want to say and how we say it, which in the other two is always stuck in the script.”
Off screen the cast has remained close, attending each other’s weddings, bachelorette bashes, throwing holiday cookie decorating parties and more. camping, Kelley Jakel and Pitch Perfect 2 additional Chrissie Fit even became a bridesmaid in the wedding ceremony of Snow March 2020.
The women are also “serious Dixie Chicks” when it comes to bonding and WhatsApp group chats.
“Yeah, sure,” Kendrick said us exclusive in November 2019. “It will go some time without reason to speak but sometimes people will have an event that will ask us to come. [to]. Someone will perform [and they’ll text], or sometimes it’ll just be, ‘Hey, what’s up,’ or a little gossip, or you see this? It’s so sweet.”
