The Phobians won the 2023 President’s Cup, moving above Asante Kotoko to 4th place
With over 5,000 fans in attendance at the Accra Sports Stadium, it was Hearts of Oak who claimed the President’s Trophy, three points and a GH¢50,000 cash prize.
Among those present at the Accra Sports Stadium was His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who looked delighted as the Phobians went on to win on Ghana’s independence night.
In a physical and urgent battle for bragging rights, prize money and the trophy, Konadu Yiadom leapt the highest, connecting on Seidu Suraj’s free kick.
With all types of people in attendance, from children to adults, the restless Hearts of Oak fans held their breath in the final minutes of the frenzy.
As the clock ticked on and on, the final penalty call was overturned by the referee which made the Kotoko fans go loco as they threw things on the pitch.
In the balance of the game, Accra Hearts of Oak dominated, leaving Kotoko chasing shadows despite having a fair chance to settle the score.
