MANILA, Philippines-National Master Darry Bernardo took 4th Place and FIDE Master Sander Severino took second place at 1st Place during the FIDE Chess Olympiad for the Disabled in Belgrade, Serbia on Sunday.

Bernardo’s gold effort and Severino’s silver medal put Team Philippines in third place after defeating three other nations – India, host Serbia and Uzbekistan – who also collected eight match points.

Poland were the runaway champions scoring six wins in as many matches and the International Disabled Chess Players (IPCA) team claimed the team silver medal with 10 match points.

Other members of the Philippine squad who showed up for bronze were National Masters James Infiesto, Henry Roger Lopez and Cheyzer Mendoza.
