MANILA, Philippines—Perpetual Help completed a perfect campaign by capturing the NCAA Season 98 men’s beach volleyball title on Saturday in Subic.
The Altas finished their season 11-0 after defeating defending champion Emilio Aguinaldo College in the finals, 21-13, 15-21, 15-13.
MVPs Jefferson Marapoc and Louie Ramirez overcame their biggest challenges, but won despite committing 16 errors against the Generals.
Perpetual Help beat No. 4 San Beda, 21-18, 21-11, in the Final Four. EAC, meanwhile, defeated Arellano, 21-15, 18-21, 18-16, in the semifinal duel.
Macky Cariño Altas was named Coach of the Year.
Perpetual Help, however, could not make it a second celebration after the Lady Altas were defeated by Letran, 21-17, 21-12, in the women’s final.
The Lady Knights’ tandem of MVP Chamberlaine Cuñada and Lara Mae Silva expanded to a 6-0 start in the second set that eliminated the Lady Altas.
Perpetual Help won their first 10 games before falling short in the biggest game of the season.
Letran Mike Inofrio was hailed as Coach of the Year.
