MANILA, Philippines—Perpetual Help continues to heat up in the NCAA Season 98 beach volleyball tournament in Subic, Zambales on Wednesday.
Altas defeated College of St. Benilde, 21-15, 21-13, followed a strong start to the competition where he ended the opening day with a 3-0 record.
The duo of Jefferson Marapoc and Louie Ramirez are now 5-0 in the men’s division after Day 2.
Emilio Aguinaldo College went on to sweep San Sebastian, 21-19, 21-18, also remaining unbeaten after four games.
San Beda, on the other hand, defeated Lyceum, 21-17, 21-19 to maintain the 3rd place in the preliminary round with a score of 3-2.
Arellano outscored the Knights early, 21-8, 21-17 to hang onto the fourth seed tied with Mapua.
Perpertual started the hot day by sweeping Lyceum, 21-8, 21-15 even though the Red Lions came from behind to defeat JRU, 10-21, 21-15, 15-13.
Arellano also defeated Baste, 21-13, 21-17 while the defending champion Generals, defeated Benilde, 21-18, 21-12.
The Cardinals opened the men’s game day with a tight three-set win over the Pirates, 18-21, 22-20, 15-11.
In the women’s game, Mary Rhose Dapol and Janine Padua of the Lady Altas also played on Day 2 by defeating Arellano, 21-9, 21-18 to keep from going 5-0.
The Lady Knights, who are in second place with a 4-1 record, buried the Lady Chiefs, 21-4, 21-13 while defending champion San Beda held on and defeated JRU, 21-12, 21-19, to follow St. Benilde at No. 5.
