Peloton Interactive Inc. has recalled two million exercise bikes citing the possibility of their seats breaking during use that could cause injuries, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said on Thursday.

CPSC said Peloton has received 35 reports of the seat post breaking and detaching from the bike while in use, including 13 reports of injuries from falling off the bike, including broken wrists, lacerations and bruises.

This recall involves Peloton Bikes with model number PL01 that are sold from January 2018 through May 2023 in the United States and are one of the company’s flagship products.

The company said original Peloton bikes sold internationally, including Canada, the UK, Germany, and Australia are not affected.

There is no mention of Peloton whatsoever in the Canadian government’s database of active consumer recalls.

The recall added pressure on Peloton, as the company grapples with demand for fitness equipment amid an uncertain economy.

The company’s shares fell 7 percent to $6.90.
