PDP presidential campaign council appoints committee for Oyo

The PDP Presidential Campaign Council has announced the composition of a 14-member committee to coordinate and manage the candidate’s campaign, Atiku Abubakarin Oyo State, South-west Nigeria.

A statement by the Director General of the Council and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on Wednesday, said the committee will be chaired by Hosea Agboola, former deputy chairman of the Senate in the seventh assembly.

Mr. Agboola will be assisted by Hazeem Gbolarumi, former deputy governor of the state and former coordinator, Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization in Oyo State.

There is no reason for the composition of the committee.

However, Mr Tambuwal said the action was in accordance with the guidelines approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and after extensive consultation.

“It is the wish of our Presidential Candidate, HE Atiku Abubakar, GCON (Waziri Adamawa), and the entire PDP family that your contribution to the overall success of the council will justify the confidence placed in each of you by the leadership of our great party.

“The pledge is effective immediately,” the statement said.

Crisis

The PDP in Oyo State has been in crisis in the past, with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) accusing the current governor, Seyi Makinde, a member of the party, of causing disunity in the state.

Mr. Makinde had avoided PDP rallies when Atiku campaigned in Ibadan, the state capital last month. However, the presidential candidate praised the governor for “making sure that this rally was organized and organized well.”

His name is Governor Oyo vice chairman (south) of the PCC when it was established in September last year.

However, he did not take the pledge because he is a member of the G-5 Governorship led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The governors requested that the PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu resign to balance the leadership structure of the party.
