PDP ‘ll retain power in Benue — Ortom — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will retain power in the state in the coming elections.

Ortom said this at a political rally in Oju and Obi Local Government Areas of the state.

He said the party has done everything it needs to do to win the upcoming general election with a clear margin.

“As we speak, all the 276 councilors in the state are PDP members while 26 of the 30 state councilors are also members of our party.

“We also have seven members of the DPR out of 11 and all three Senators from Benue are members of the PDP. In addition, the Deputy Governor and the Governor are members of the PDP.

“This shows that Benue is a PDP state and this is what we will protect,” Ortom said.

He advised the public to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that the upcoming elections will be different from the past.

“The era of fighting for the ballot box is over. Now is the era of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS).

“With the introduction of BIVAS, you must be in the polling unit to vote because the machine must catch you before you vote. This election must be taken seriously,” said the governor.

Meanwhile, the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Titus Uba, honored the prayers of the people while he was on medical leave abroad.

Uba encouraged that he and his representative, Mr. John Ngbede, by mandate, promised not to be disappointed if they gave their votes.

He said he would consolidate Ortom’s outstanding legacy, saying the governor had laid a solid foundation for security and would use it.

“We are blessed with fertile land in the country, as such, we will use agriculture to develop the country through modern agricultural techniques,” said Uba.

Also, Ngbede said he would build on what Ortom did, promising not to leave civil servants behind in the programme.

The senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Sen. Abba Moro, promised to facilitate the construction of the Otukpo-Obi-Oju-Yahe road and complete it before the end of the second term.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) does not give us hope, so you should reject and vote for all PDP candidates from the bottom to the top,” Moro said.

Earlier, Acting state PDP Chairman, Mr. Isaac Mffo, said that voting for the party means securing the future of his children.
