The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected a letter claiming that the party has suspended its governorship candidate in Cross River, Prof. Sandy Onor.
The National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologungba, said in Abuja that Onor’s suspension letter was signed by the National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, and what is spreading on social media is fake.
“The letter is a false and evil design by anti-people elements with the aim of causing confusion in our party, misleading the people of Cross River and rigging the governorship election against the PDP.
“The PDP has made it clear that Onor remains the governorship candidate of the PDP in Cross River for the 2023 governorship election.
“He is not suspended from the party; the NWC has no contemplation of this and there is no issue whatsoever to warrant such suspension,” he said.
Ologunagba added that it was not long before Ayu sent a letter to INEC on any matter related to the party’s governorship candidate in Cross River.
He also stated that it was rude that the fake letter was signed by Sen. Umar Tsauri instead of Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the original PDP National Secretary.
“This is clear evidence that the letter is fake,” he said.
Ologunagba called on Nigerians, especially youths and PDP supporters in Cross River to ignore the letter.
He stressed that Onor remains the candidate of the PDP and enjoys overwhelming support from the people of Cross River.
