PDP challenges YPP to provide evidence Gov Emmanuel visited INEC office

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has challenged the opposition Young Progressive Party (YPP) to provide evidence that Governor Udom Emmanuel visited any office. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through general elections in the country.

The Chairman of the YPP in Akwa Ibom, Nyeneime Andy, told reporters in Uyo that Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel spent “over four hours” at the INEC office.

Mr. Andy did not mention where the INEC office is or provide any evidence to support the allegation.

He also said without evidence that INEC in Akwa Ibom was in “alliance” with PDP over elections.

The spokesperson of the PDP in the state, Borono Bassey, said in a statement on Tuesday in Uyo that the allegations against the governor of Akwa Ibom and the PDP are “wild” and “false”.

“We challenge Apostle Nyeneime Andy to produce the smallest evidence that shows that Governor Udom Emmanuel had visited the INEC office that day, otherwise the lying YPP State Chairman would not have stood before the Church to preach against the sin of lying,” said Mr. Bassey.

Mr Bassey said Mr Andy knew “in his heart” that the allegations were false.

“When he stands before Almighty God on the day of judgment, he will be asked why he gave false witness about the upcoming election, never mind that he is a man who claims to be a Pastor of the Church.”

The PDP spokesperson described the YPP as a “political party in pain and emergency”, and said the party recorded shameful events during the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections in Akwa Ibom.

He said the press conference where Mr. Andy made accusations against Governor Emmanuel, PDP and INEC was “just a session of YPP licking the wounds of defeat” in the election.

Objection to the charge

The PDP made a counter accusation against YPP, saying “there are videos showing prominent YPP leaders in the State at INEC offices in various Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State resorting to crude intimidation and trying to assault INEC staff.”

The party added, “We must remind you that our Party will not tolerate this kind of behavior because we have petitioned the Security agencies to ensure that they conduct video surveillance throughout the country and also arrest the Heads of political parties who are making efforts to disrupt the smooth functioning of the party.” , reliable and peaceful (governor and House of Assembly elections).

The PDP has not presented any evidence to support the allegations against the YPP in Akwa Ibom.

The PDP won two of the three Senate seats in Akwa Ibom, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) won one seat.

YPP did not win a Senate seat.

For the Federal House of Representatives, PDP won seven out of 10 seats while APC won one seat. YPP did not win.

INEC has declared inconclusive elections in two federal constituencies in the state.

PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar won the presidential election in Akwa Ibom.

“We call on millions of Akwa Ibom people to come out again to their respective polling units and use their Permanent Voter Cards and vote for PDP in large numbers to send a clear message to those elements who want to drag our country backwards,” the PDP spokesman in the state, Mr. Bassey said.
