MANILA, Philippines–Magnolia extended its winning streak to four straight games after an 0-3 start with a dominant performance to defeat Rain or Shine, 112-97, in the PBA Governor’s Cup on Wednesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Jio Jalalon once again put up 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Hotshots moved up to fifth place after a hard-fought win over the Elasto Painters.

Guards Mark Barroca and Paul Lee also contributed 19 points apiece, Antonio Hester had 17 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and two steals for Magnolia.

Coach Chito Victolero and the Hotshots are undefeated since Hester arrived to replace Eric McCree.

The Hotshots once led by 23 with Jalalon making marks at both ends to frustrate the Elasto Painters side who played catchup throughout.

Also key was the rarely used Russell Escoto with 10 points and eight rebounds, taking advantage of the minutes he played while Ian Sangalang was still out for Magnolia.

Rain or Shine fell into a tie for eighth place with Phoenix after their two-game winning streak.

Import Greg Smith II returned to action after finally securing clearance from the Dominican Republic, the last country he played, but could only score 15 points at a 3-of-10 clip.

Santi Santillan and Nick Demusis posted 14 and 11 points, respectively, for the Elasto Painters.
