ANTIPOLO – After an uneventful start to his professional career, Allyn Bulanadi looked to make a fresh start on Sunday, starring as San Miguel Beer defeated Phoenix at the Ynares Center here.

Bulanadi had 16 points in the game – just two points behind scoring champion CJ Perez, and three from cornerstone and six-time June Most Valuable Player Mar Fajardo in a 114-93 114-93 blowout that began the Beermen’s post-Leo Austria era. .

“First match with SMB, of course, I’m excited,” Bulanadi told reporters as he exited the hilltop arena.

“I’m not comfortable. I want to (continue to improve my playing) for my performance in the next game,” he said.

Bulanadi was the fourth pick of the 2019 Gilas Pilipinas Special Draft.

The group is on loan to the national team that has been disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak for almost two years.

The spitfire guard from San Sebastian went on to play for PBA mother club Alaska in the 2022 season, but the club’s disbandment interrupted his career progress.

He saw limited minutes at Konverge coached by Aldin Ayo who inherited the PBA Aces franchise and was eventually sent to the famous ball club NorthPort in a trade before this season’s Governors Cup.

“Actually, yes. It was unexpected,” said Bulanadi about the move. “But I guess the first order of business is acceptance. Move on, then get back to work.”

Jorge Galent, who now calls the shots for the Beermen, heaped praise on the 25-year-old cager who is available to add firepower from the bench.

“Allyn is always a shooter. When we played against Converge, he did the same thing there,” he said.

“He’s just doing the same thing here. So, I’m very happy for his game as well as the San Miguel Beermen, and I just hope he’ll keep going,” added Galent.

Bulanadi hopes to continue his stellar performances as his career goes through a new arc and he is happy that he has many strong players in the fight as he revives.

“Every day, I find a way to follow him,” he said. “And he taught me, guided me on what to do.”

“I have extra motivation (to perform),” he continued. “I have been with many teams. There is no change in my routine, I just have extra motivation.
