For months, Paul Staehle and Karine Martins have been fighting for custody of their two sons.
Most custody battles involving a pair of exes have two fronts. Strangely, in this case, Paul and Karine are on the same side.
Neither Paul nor Karine have custody of Pierre and Ethan at this time. Both want to change this.
Now, Paul has shared a milestone in his quest to get his children back. Both have completed batterer intervention programs.
This week, Paul Staehle took to Instagram stories to update his followers and more 90 Day Engagement fans
“Karine and I were told to complete this course by CPS,” he captioned it.
Paul added that he and Karine must complete this prerequisite “along with other programs and requirements.”
Paul’s actual writing is a photo (or maybe a scan) of the certificate.
It’s a “Batterer Intervention Program Completion Certificate.”
There, in clumsy handwriting, Paul had printed his name. The list ends on January 13, 2023.
Why did Paul wait almost a month to tell the news? With Paul, you never know.
But maybe he waited until Karine completed the course and got her certificate. After all, the post suggests that they also have the appropriate certificates.
At the same time, it may take several weeks to send the documents. Paul may have felt the need to upload the document in order to share the news.
As always, you have no idea what Paul was thinking. Especially when it comes to what you post on Instagram.
Or so he said in an interview.
In fact, it is almost entirely due to Paul’s lack of coherent filtering that we have so much information about this disturbing mess.
In late 2021, a video went viral on social media, showing Karine pulling Paul’s hair.
Domestic incidents may occur in front of one of the children.
Famously, Paul took note of everything in and around the house. This unpleasant practice has happened before.
It is possible that Karine was physically abusing Paulus during this incident. Some longtime fans thought the video might have been dishonestly edited.
(Now, some fans wonder if Paul posted the video as revenge after Karine left him…although this is speculation)
Either way, this time Karine lost custody of her children.
Then, a few months later, in 2022, 90 Day Engagement fans note that Pierre Staehle is a “lost man.”
Did Paul kidnap his young son? If so, from whom? Well… complicated.
Simply put, we know that Paul took Pierre to another country when he traveled for work. During that time, CPS came to check on Pierre and couldn’t find him.
It’s not clear what Paul was thinking at the time (do you see a pattern?) except that Pierre had attachment issues.
However, when she and Pierre return, they meet in family court. Like the former, he does not have custody of either of his sons.
To Paul’s grief, his family could not take in his children, either. Apparently CPS doesn’t think they can be trusted, either to care for the boys or to comply with court instructions on things like supervision.
Paul has since made several, sometimes competing claims about this.
At one point, he claimed that the family court and CPS were behind him because Karine had told him that she wanted to kill him.
Most recently, Paul’s story has allowed Karine to see boys unsupervised, and this is the cost of detention. Who knows?
We don’t know how many hoops Paul or Karine have to jump through to get back into custody. If that’s even possible.
(Yes, the worse person has regained custody. But the better person has lost it. It’s not a good system; only one has it)
many 90 Day Engagement fans are leery Paul and Karine parenting, either separately or together. So people have mixed feelings about each of these parts.
