A Mozambican priest died after fasting for 40 days, in an attempt to copy what Jesus Christ said in the Bible.
The death of Francisco Barajah, pastor and founder of the Evangelical Church of Santa Trindade in the central province of Manica, was confirmed on Wednesday.
He died while being treated at a hospital in Beira where he was evacuated in critical condition.
After 25 days of fasting, he lost so much weight that he could not stand, shower or walk.
After a few days, due to the insistence of relatives and believers, he was taken to the hospital, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
The believers in his church and his neighbors were not surprised when this happened, because he was very overweight and his body was deformed in this day and age.
