Partey vs Casemiro showdown on hold as Man United star gets suspended

Partey and Casemiro have both been sensational for Arsenal and Manchester United, respectively, this season.

And the pair are set to clash in the Premier League this Sunday when Arsenal host Manchester United at the Emirates.

However, Casemiro has been suspended for the crucial match after receiving his fifth yellow card in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old was named in Eric ten Hag’s starting lineup despite the risk of suspension and was at his best at Selhurst Park.

Everything seemed to be going to plan for the Red Devils when Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the 44th minute.

Manchester United, though, ended up struggling for the game, with Casemiro receiving a yellow card before Michael Olise curled in a 91st minute free-kick to earn Crystal Palace a draw.

Casemiro’s suspension means he will miss Sunday’s big game against Arsenal, who are nine points above the Reds.

Earlier this week, Rio Ferdinand had argued who was the best between Partey and Casemiro.

The Manchester United legend says Casemiro “disappears” Thomas Partey when the two midfielders are compared.

“I think it’s important for the team… you can argue both sides equally. But then, when you go through the statistics in Casemiro eliminate him,” The former defender of Manchester United said in his podcast, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“No, no. I don’t think Partey is good enough in defense to do what Casemiro does, I don’t think he has any impact on Man United’s defence, on the ball he does more.

“On the ball, he is [Partey] do something else. He dictated playing for Arsenal. He really plays a pass I didn’t know he had. His death is unbelievable.”

However, fans will have to wait another time to see a match between Partey and Casemiro, as it will not happen on Sunday.
