Parliament decided the fate of new minister Nana Addo on Friday
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has ordered the house to debate the report of the Appointments Committee on the new Minister appointed by President Akufo-Addo on Thursday, while the fate of the new appointee will be decided on Friday, March 24.
This comes after the house adjourned debate on the report for more than five hours to give members a chance to attend a joint caucus meeting.
Although members on both sides of the house did not support the directive, the Speaker stuck to his position.
“We agree to disagree, at the end of the day, my decision is that we will debate [today, Thursday] and take a decision tomorrow [Friday]. I have listened to your submission, I will allow three from each side of the caucus, ten minutes each and we will take the next step. My proposal is that we take a decision tomorrow, but we will have a debate today,” the Speaker said.
Before examining the newly nominated ministers on Monday, February 20, 2023, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ordered the Minority group not to approve them, describing the appointment as an insensitive move that will increase government expenditure in the middle. economic mess.
The nominated ministers include Member of Parliament Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond as Minister of Trade and Industry with Member of Parliament Nhyiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah as his deputy.
Abetifi Member of Parliament, Bryan Acheampong was also appointed Minister of Food and Agriculture.
Stephen Asamoah Boateng was appointed Minister of Leadership and Religious Affairs among others.
