Osu District Of Seventh-Day Adventist Church To Offer Free Medical Screening To Residents Of Osu As It Marks Global Youth Day | Religion

The Youth Department of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church, Osu District, will conduct free health screening for residents in and around Osu on Saturday, March 18, 2023, to mark the church’s Global Youth Day event.

Global Youth Day is an initiative of the SDA Church around the world, to challenge young people to reach out to their communities and do the preaching they preach. The young people are also expected to define a scheme of social intervention that can lead to a life like Jesus did.

Residents of Osu Kinkawe and its surrounding areas will receive free eye and general health screenings, including BP, sugar levels, BMI, and COVID-19 vaccinations, among others. The day before World Oral Health Day, there will be oral health care for customers and distribution of oral and dental hygiene products to children in the community.

The event is aimed at bringing together over 1000 community members living in Osu to be educated on the benefits of proper oral hygiene and, more importantly, overall health care and well-being.

“Health remains one of the main challenges for many people, and what is important to our neighbors is very important to us. This is what drives our interest in the general well-being of our community. Love is an action word, and Global Youth Day initiatives such as medical outreach, as one of the ways to show the love of Christ to our neighbors and our community” – District Youth leader, Ebenezer Kwaku Aning stated.

GYD’s vision is to recapture the reality of Adventist youth as a global movement mobilized to serve God and humanity, contribute to the eternal proclamation of the Gospel and make disciples for the Kingdom of God. The theme for Global Youth Day 2023, “Love is Action”, encourages the youth of the church to show love and care to our community in practical and tangible ways.

The Osu district of the Seventh-day Adventist Church consists of three main congregations namely Bethel-Osu, Prince Emmanuel, and Day Spring.
