Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has congratulated the winner of the 2023 presidential election, Bola Tinubu.
Mr. Osinbajo expressed his congratulations in a message he sent to the president-elect on Wednesday in Abuja.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) earlier on Wednesday declared Mr. Tinubu, the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
INEC has also given Certificates of Return to Mr. Tinubu, and Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima.
“I happily congratulate the flag bearer of our great party, APC, Tinubu, for his victory in the 2023 Presidential Election, and his declaration as the President-Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“I also congratulate Sen. Shettima on his declaration as Vice President-Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“In your previous years of public service, you have shown a consistent loyalty to progressive and welfare ideals, and an ability to build bridges across multiple divisions.
“These attributes are needed especially at this time, to reach the parts of society that are not affected and to meet the aspirational hopes of the youth who have shown a strong desire to influence our democratic process in a positive way.

“I believe that they will not allow any setbacks they may face to detract from their strong desire to define the path of our national journey into the future.
“Through thick and thin, we must all remain focused on the goal of giving birth to the Nigeria of our dreams.
“I pray that God Almighty will help you to fulfill the progressive mandate of our Party, as well as the various plans to improve the security, welfare and happiness of all Nigerians,” he said.
Earlier, while presiding over the weekly Federal Executive Council, the vice president led ministers to congratulate Mr. Tinubu, his wife, Oluremi, and the Vice President-Elect, Mr. Shettima.
He directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to formally convey the congratulations of the council.
The vice president also attended the official presentation of the INEC Certificates of Return for the President-Elect and Vice President-Elect at the National Collation Center, International Conference Center, Abuja.
