One person was shot dead in Buipe after youths besieged Damongo police station


One person has been shot in Buipe after young people in the area massed up at Damongo Police station demanding the release of eight people arrested for allegedly burning a house belonging to some Fulanis.

The arrest came after Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II called the police to arrest the perpetrators.

Buipe youths led by the Gonja Land Youth Association have protested with the Fulani leaders for Mande, a suburb of Buipe.

Buipe youths are angry because Fuseini Musah Buri is the Fulani leader in Mande.

Buipe authorities have begun to reverse the enskinment.

Eight people were arrested by the police after they allegedly vandalized several houses and sent to Damongo Police station.

However, angry youths in Buipe besieged the police station demanding the release of their friends.

In an attempt to disperse the youth, the police fired warning shots hitting one of the youths in the process.

The injured have been sent to hospital for treatment.
