Wife of Ondo State Governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredoluon Sunday gave money and gifts to the first three babies in 2023 in Akure.
Mrs. Anyanwu-Akeredolu also gave money and other gifts to seven more babies born on Christmas Day, and in the last hours of 2022.
The governor’s wife, who presented gifts and money to the parents of the babies at the Mother and Child Hospital, Akure, and Arakale Comprehensive Health Centre, Akure, said the gesture was in support of the parents of the babies.
According to him, “it has become an annual ritual for us in the country to celebrate the first child this year and I am very happy to see that the babies born in both centers are healthy.”
Mrs. Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who commended the doctors and nurses of the two hospitals for the safe delivery of mothers, urged parents to adopt a culture of planning at the time of childbirth so that they can train their children well.
“For a child born in this century to function properly, you must give him a good education, you must provide him, give him a balanced diet so that he can grow well and develop well so that he can compete well.
“If a child is undernourished, the child will not go to school well and in the beginning, how they are born, how they are nourished will determine the child.
“We are not saying that we want to lock the wombs, but our people must reduce the number of children born because of the current situation.

“And we can’t escape the fact that it’s a lot of money to raise a child in this century.
“So, Nigerians will continue to have good babies, but all I am saying is that we have numbers that we can train or take care of.
“Please do family planning and don’t overdo it, so that you can train these children and give them a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Health, Banjo Ajaka, who presented the four babies to the governor’s wife at the Mother and Child Hospital, Akure, said the first child was born at 5.30am weighing 3.5kg.

“Three more babies, one born on Christmas Day and the other two born in the last hours of 2022,” he said.
Also, Omoseyi Adeyemi-Osowe, Director, Primary Health Centre, Arakale in Akure South Local Government Area, who presented six babies to Mrs. Anyanwu-Akeredolu, said the first child was born at 1:30am, the second at 1:55am. , while they weigh 3.5 kg and 3.4 kg respectively.
Ayomide Bankole, who gave birth at 1:30 a.m., and Mrs. Olatuji Mariam, who gave birth at 5:30 a.m., both on Sunday, appreciated the governor’s wife for the gesture, saying it would go a long way to take care of them. from her baby.

“We are very happy and grateful for what the governor’s wife has done for us. May God Almighty continue to bless her for us,” said the couple. (NAN)
