Omo-Agege to Okowa: Clear yourself of financial allegations | The Guardian Nigeria News

• Unpaid Delta State pensioners storm APC gubernatorial candidate rally to demand justice

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Vice President of the Nigerian Senate and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has challenged the governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, to clear himself of any widespread allegations he may have. diverted N25 billion from over N4.2 trillion that accrued to the country in the past seven and a half years to float the bank.

Omo-Agege threw down the challenge while addressing a crowd of party supporters at the APC campaign rally in Isoko land on Friday, January 6.

He also clarified on the issue of loans acquired by the Okowa government, saying, if elected governor, he will honor the legitimate commitments made by the administration but will not be obligated to pay the debts acquired by the current state government.

“While we are not happy that the country has passed the debt, we will be obliged to honor and service any loan taken by the Okowa government before now and the following due process,” said Omo-Agege. “But more loans, including the N40 billion loan that Governor Okowa sought four months to the end of his administration, cannot be accepted, and any bank that gives such loans is at its own risk.”

Speaking in Ozoro, Isoko North LGA, Omo-Agege described as laughable, the mantra of the PDP hoping to save Nigeria, while the vice presidential and governorship candidate of Delta State, Okowa, failed to rescue the oil rich nation.

“After they destroyed Delta State, took away our money, and after the members of Parliament and the Speaker who could not look Okowa in the face and ask questions, they came and said they want to save Nigeria,” said Okowa.

He assured the families of the five APC members who died in the recent boat accident that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

Earlier, state party chairman, Omeni Sobotie, after observing the poor level of infrastructural development in Isokoland, said: “Okowa is a very evil person and such people will not be allowed to be vice president.”

He handed over the party flag to Joel Onowakpo-Thomas, Dr Sylvester Onoyona and Dr Michael Enaharo for the Senate, Isoko Federal House of Reps and Isoko North House of Assembly seats.

Onowakpo-Thomas said the people of Isoko are fed up with the PDP and must change their narrative, adding that the APC is positioned to win the 2023 General Election, although he called on the people to vote for all APC candidates.

On his part, Dr Onoyona said that in the last 24 years, the PDP has not been able to complete the Ughelli-Asaba road that passes through Isokoland and therefore called on Isoko people to reject the PDP at the polls.

Former PDP chieftains including Karo Ilolo, Faith Majemite, and Eunice Okoh, who earlier dumped the party, were present at the Isoko rally. Majemite personally described the PDP as “a useless party, an obituary party, where people starve to death, make committees to bury, and steal committee money.”

An Ozoro-born APC leader, Omoviro William, alias Kingibe, described Governor Okowa as a man blessed by God but decided to leave God’s way, “so we are not ready to vote for him and PDP.”

Meanwhile, in Oleh, Isoko South LGA headquarters, pensioners who remain unpaid by the Okowa administration, stormed an APC rally to demand justice.

Led by Patience Akpobome, they demanded that Okowa be paid his just dues, having devoted his life to the service of the country.

Mrs. Akpobome specifically stated that she has been retired since 2015, but has not been paid. “Okowa is a very evil person and the APC must ensure that he is jailed,” he told the crowd.

Speaking earlier, Isoko South Assembly candidate, Ese Blessing Oghogho, and other Isoko leaders, called on people to canvass and mobilize votes for APC.
