MANILA, Philippines—One week after the transfer of Rald Ricafort to PLDT from Petro Gazz, the team has also found a replacement in the head coach.

In a surprising move on Tuesday morning, the Angels announced former Choco Mucho coach Oliver Almadro as their new coach.

Almadro stepped down from the Flying Titans job in November after the team lost to Akari in five sets that tied Priscilla Rivera’s career high with 44 points.

He cited his commitment to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP as the main reason for leaving his post as coach of Choco Mucho.

“Although this is sudden and with a heavy heart, I am asking the Rebisco Management to allow me to step down as the head coach of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans. This is so that I can focus on my duties and responsibilities as the head coach of the Ateneo Women’s Volleyball Team,” he said. Almadro.

With the coaching seat of Petro Gazz suddenly vacant with the departure of Ricafort, the opportunity came for a new coach, who was the champion coach from Loyola.

During his three years with Choco Mucho, Almadro recorded 23 wins and 27 losses. He also guided the Flying Titans to two consecutive fourth-place finishes in the last two Open Conferences.

The Flying Titans will be supported by their newly appointed mentor Dante Alinsunurin.

Petro Gazz will also introduce new recruits after parting ways with Myla Pablo, Seth Rodriguez and Bang Pineda.
