Obi meets religious leaders in southern Kaduna, promises to ‘serve’ Nigeria if elected

Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obion Saturday promised to serve the country diligently if elected in next month’s presidential election.

Mr. Obi made the promise during a meeting with Muslim and Christian leaders in Southern Kaduna, northwest Nigeria.

Mr. Obi, who was in the company of the vice presidential candidate, Yusuf Baba – Ahmed, dismissed concerns raised by one of the religious leaders over his disagreement with the running mate if he was elected to office.

During a meeting at the Ministry of the Throne Room in Kafanchan, Mr. Obi said he and his colleagues are very happy to serve Nigeria and not for money.

“The reason people fight is transaction. I have no excuse for self-enrichment, God is enough. I am satisfied. Those who steal government money abuse the grace of God. We want to work for this country. Nothing else is needed,” Mr. Obi said.

Mr. Obi stressed that what Nigeria lacks is a committed and competent leader.

“We will fight corruption. The presidency requires physical and mental energy, and is not a retirement home for the old and tired.

“There is nothing wrong with Nigeria, what is wrong is bad leadership. Our leaders refuse to exceed expectations,” he said.

“We need a leader, Datti and I will not shy away from securing Nigeria. We promise Nigerians that after our leadership there will be a difference,” he said.
