Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obithere is sympathy with the victims of the fire outbreak at the Ajegunle spare parts market and the Ikeja train accident that occurred in Lagos this week.
Mr. Obi described the incident as a “terrible tragedy” for the good people of Lagos state.
A fire broke out at a car spare parts market early Wednesday in Lagos. The incident resulted in the destruction of several shops and goods worth millions of naira.
Reports said that an unidentified person was also killed in the incident.
While the state and victims of the fire are still counting their losses, on Thursday morning, a train traveling to Lagos from Abeokuta collided with a Lagos State government staff bus transporting passengers to work.
Authorities say at least six people have been confirmed dead as a result of the incident and several others with various injuries are responding to treatment.
The incident prompted the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to suspend an ongoing political campaign and declared three days of mourning for those killed in the accident.
In a press statement issued by the media team of Obi-Datti, the flag bearer of the LP president commiserated with the victims of mishaps in Lagos and other parts of the country.


“The sad news of the outbreak of fire at Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi, Apapa, Ajegunle Lagos coupled with the train bus accident that has resulted in death, injury and loss of property at this very difficult time is disturbing to understand the hardship Nigerians are going through,” the statement said. was quoted by Mr. Obi.

“I deeply commiserate with all those affected by this accident. I ask the affected governments and relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the accident thoroughly, and prevent future incidents while finding ways to help the affected victims.
Mr. Obi said there is a need for equal protection under the law and government should prioritize its responsibility to protect lives and property.
