The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has approved the immediate promotion of all civil and public servants in the state whose promotion is scheduled for 2022.

In a statement, the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, said the directive is in line with government’s commitment to speedy and regular promotion of civil and public servants.

Okungbowa noted that Edo is the first state to approve the promotion, which will come in the second month of the year.

He said: “No other state in Nigeria has approved this year’s promotion, not even the Federal Government. So, this is an important milestone and the governor deserves appreciation for prioritizing the welfare of workers.

He added that the development is in line with the new paradigm in the service, which emphasizes and prioritizes the welfare of civil servants and civil servants who are promoted as and when.

According to him, “The Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are hereby directed to initiate and complete the process of promotion of eligible officers without further delay.

“All accounting officers must ensure compliance with this directive, please.”
