Maggie Haberman, White House correspondent for The New York Times, on Monday suggested why former President Donald Trump hasn’t really attacked Ron DeSantis, a potential 2024 GOP rival.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked Haberman: “It’s interesting that Trump so far hasn’t criticized DeSantis by name. Why is that? And should we expect an overt jab to start flying?
But “in general, I think he tries not to lift her. I think he tries not to make a lot of faces in her,” he said. “Because he’s someone else, DeSantis, so not every Trump voter knows that, that not everyone knows and I think they want to eliminate him.”
Haberman suspects that “will change,” as DeSantis embarks on a 90-day book tour to promote his new memoir, “The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Survival,” which the Times book critic described as a read. like this was “thrown” by an AI bot.
“Then we’ll know exactly how many other people jump into this field, so a lot can change,” Haberman added.
