Seven personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) were ambushed and killed along with five others from sister security agencies and local security services.

Personnel attached to the Kaduna State Ministry of Mines were attacked and killed by bandits while on official duty at a mining site in Birnin Gwari Local Council Area.

According to the Director, Public Relations, NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu, he said the incident happened on Monday, January 9, 2023 at about 10am.

He said after the attack, the bandits seized the rifle from the operatives who were killed. The remains of the officer and the deceased have been recovered and deposited at the Barau Diko Hospital in Kaduna.

Commandant General (CG) NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, described the unfortunate incident as a great loss to the Corps, the families of the victims and the nation.
He commiserates with the family and friends of the deceased and prays that God will give him the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

In honor of the deceased personnel, the CG has ordered that the Corps flag be flown at half mast and a national prayer involving Christians and Muslims be held at the Corps National headquarters, Abuja, to pray for God’s protection for all. officers and men of the Corps in the new year and prevent the recurrence of such bad incidents.
