NPP donates GHS10,000 to Christian Atsu’s family

Atsu, 31, was killed in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, killing more than 44,000 people in both countries.

Earlier, George Weah, the President of Liberia also donated $10,000 to the family of the late player.

The former Ballon d’Or winner sent a delegation to the Atsu family home on Wednesday to send a message of condolence and also gave $10,000 to the family.

Former Ghana international Kwame Ayew led the delegation and presented a donation to President Weah.

Atsu was confirmed dead last Saturday after his lifeless body was pulled from the rubble following an earthquake in Turkey.

It follows days of intense searches after earthquakes devastated Turkey and Syria two weeks ago.

Tributes have poured in from far and near, with many offering condolences to the footballer’s family and loved ones.
