Another rejection from Sunak and his government
One of the features of the current wave of attacks in the public sector is that the public at the polls generally support those who take action.
It’s easy to see how nurses can get their backing but now the latest poll from YouGov finds support teachers and I found something even more incredible.
In many ways, this is a reflection of a government that has seen its ratings nosedive. Sunak himself is in deep negative territory in the ratings and it is difficult to see how he or his party can get out of this. His performance at PMQs today was sensational with a big win for Keir Starmer. The PM seemed out of tune.
Are we getting to the stage where Tory backbenchers are worried about keeping their seats so that another leader can come out?
I think that’s a big part of the problem.
