ADELAIDE, Australia-Novak Djokovic said he worked with a physiotherapist last night to repair a hamstring problem before the Serbian beat Sebastian Korda in the Adelaide International 1 final on Sunday ahead of this month’s Australian Open.

Djokovic underwent treatment on his left leg during Saturday’s semi-final win over Daniil Medvedev after he strained his left hamstring while making a forehand.

But the 35-year-old moved freely around the court in Sunday’s final before he dug deep to save a match point and seal a 6-7(8) 7-6(3) 6-4 victory.

“I just woke up. Tonight is over with the physio,” Djokovic told reporters. “Discussion with the doctor, also about the tournament, etc.

“There’s a lot of attention for today’s game about the hamstring. It’s all right.

“Many times in the match, I feel like I’m straining my muscles, but no one will worry about my performance.”

At the January 16-29 Australian Open, Djokovic will bid for a record-breaking 10th title to tie with Rafael Nadal on 22 Grand Slam crowns.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better preparation and lead into the Australian Open,” Djokovic said.

“I’m looking forward to Melbourne. Rod Laver is probably the best – no, definitely the most successful court of my career. I love playing there. I’m looking forward to it.

“I have a week off to recover now and work on certain things about the game, my body, so that my mind is in the right state for the best five and two weeks.”
