Eleven weeks into his third term as Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has yet to be welcomed to the White House, signaling US displeasure with the right-wing government’s policies.
Most of Israel’s new leaders have visited the United States or met the president during this time in office, according to a Reuters review of official visits going back to the late 1970s. Only two of the previous 13 prime ministers who led new governments waited longer.
The White House declined to confirm Netanyahu had not been invited. A State Department spokesman referred Reuters to the Israeli government for information on the prime minister’s travel plans.
